PVS and Responsible Care®

PARTNERS IN SAFETY

Over the past several years, PVS Chemicals and all members of the American Chemistry Council have significantly improved their environmental, health, safety and security performance through the Responsible Care® initiative. To see an overview of Responsible Care®, visit rctoolkit.com

WHAT IS THE RESPONSIBLE CARE® INITIATIVE?

Today, Responsible Care® is moving America's leading chemical companies above and beyond their prior accomplishments, to achieve even higher standards of performance and generate greater value for their businesses. The Responsible Care Management System® (RCMS®) offers an integrated, structured approach to drive results in six key areas: community awareness and emergency response; distribution; employee health and safety; pollution prevention; process safety; and product stewardship. The Guiding Principles are the foundation for this system.

  • Implementation of the RCMS follows a "plan-do-check-act" model that is consistent with international management systems.
  • A key part of the RCMS process is mandatory certification by an independent, accredited auditing firm. All of the companies taking part in the Responsible Care® initiative will undergo headquarters and facility audits to ensure that they have a structure and system in place to measure, manage and verify performance.
  • PVS is on track to certify all domestic manufacturing facilities by the year 2008. PVS Chemicals, Inc. corporate headquarters and PVS Technologies, Detroit Plant, will be certified in 2006. To view our metrics, visit http://www.responsiblecare-us.com/.
