Position Summary:

The Benefits Director will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the company’s comprehensive benefits programs. This includes building a strategy for future health and welfare plans, retirement plans, leave policies, wellness programs, and other employee benefits. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in benefits management, a deep understanding of compliance requirements, and the ability to lead strategic initiatives that align with the company’s growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic vision for the company’s benefits programs.
  • Work closely with Chief People Officer, Chief Financial Officer and other key executives to formulate new strategies that ensure market competitive programs and overall cost reduction that fit our growing company footprint.
  • Create executive presentations and provide updates related to plan recommendations and performance.
  • Manage relationships with applicable vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure high-quality service delivery, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with service level agreements.
  • Partner with brokers and vendors to design competitive and cost-effective benefits packages that attract and retain top talent.
  • Work to strategically consolidate or carve out benefit plans depending on key markets or geographic regions.
  • Stay current and knowledgeable of market trends, benchmarking data, best practices and compliance related regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations (e.g., ERISA, ACA, HIPAA).
  • Prepare and submit required regulatory filings and reports as appropriate.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to educate employees about benefits programs.
  • Lead and develop members of the HR benefits team.
  • Propose strategic wellness programs and initiatives to enhance employee well-being while also creating metrics to measure return on investment.
  • Foster a culture of health and wellness throughout the organization.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • Master’s degree or relevant certifications such as CEBS, PHR, SPHR preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in benefits administration.
  • Experience in a leadership level position preferred.
  • Proven experience in benefits management, vendor management, contract negotiation, and performance evaluation, with a track record of driving cost-effective partnerships.
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions and knowledge of both fully insured and self-funded plans.
  • In-depth knowledge of benefits laws and regulations.
  • Proven experience in designing and managing comprehensive benefits programs.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to use data to drive decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the company.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
