Position: Project Engineer
Division: PVS Chemicals, Inc.
Department: Corporate

Project Engineers play a key role in capital project execution, process safety, supporting facility
improvements, and process design. Project Engineers are tasked with directly managing, acting as
Project Manager, or supporting Project Managers on capital projects ranging from small/simple to
large/complex in nature.

Primary Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, perform the following tasks:
• The preparation of scope, schedule and budget documents for capital projects from preliminary
through execution phases.
• Coordinate with designers and occasionally prepare design drawings.
• Preparation of specification documents, bill of materials and cost estimates.
• Prepare bid request documents, addendums & change orders for procurement phase.
• Interface with engineering firms and contractors for project planning and execution.
• Ensure projects comply with various Corporate Standards. (Engineering, Project Management and
• Ensure projects meet expectations for budget, time, and effectiveness.
• Lead project meetings and publish meeting meetings.
• Communicate documents, data and information to all internal and external project stakeholders in a
timely manner.
• Prepare progress reports.
• Support commissioning and transition projects from engineering to operations group.
• Travel to project sites as required to gather field information and to support site engineering/project
management/ construction management efforts.
• Work with plant personnel to develop cost-effective way to achieve targets.
• Prepare project closure documents and lessons learned.

Education / Skills / Relevant Experience:

• BS in Chemical or Mechanical or engineering would be preferred. Structural and electrical
engineering graduates with experience in chemical projects may also apply.
• Ability to perform field assignments in an industrial environment.
• Basic understanding of life critical permits, management of change, and process hazard analysis.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with consistent project performance.
• Good understanding of process equipment design including pumps, valves, heat exchangers,
storage tanks, material balances, and instrument specifications.
• Must have the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Proven problem solving techniques and quantitative, analytical skills. Strong attention to detail.
• Proven planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to organize work and set priorities to meet deadlines while working independently.
• Demonstrated professional demeanor, ethical conduct and excellent reputation for integrity.
• Willingness to take ownership and drive results.
Preferred additional skills/experience
• 2 to 10 years’ experience in an engineering role, preferably in industrial sector.
• Demonstrated capability to provide project deliverables and drive results.
• Basic knowledge of scheduling software packages such as MS Project or Primavera.
• Basic knowledge of CAD packages such as AutoCAD.
• Ability to read and markup engineering drawings (especially P&lDs and equipment drawings).
• Chemical manufacturing experience.
• Experience with piping, pumps, and structures for supporting process equipment.
• Field experience (surveying, construction, site supervisions etc.).
This position will be based in the Detroit, Michigan area, and may require travel (50%) to support PVS’
production and project sites.
