The PVS Promise
Sustainability has been an integral part of PVS’ philosophy since our inception in 1945. As a continually operating family-owned business for more than 75 years, we have been living and breathing the meaning of sustainable operations. We constantly look for opportunities to structure our business model to shift towards a circular economy. We aspire to keep our air, soil, and water clean, and aim to pass on the planet in better shape to the next generation.
Along with standard energy-saving measures like replacing outdated processes and transportation equipment with higher efficiency ones, PVS takes sustainability to the next level in uniquely different ways. We repurpose waste streams from the steel industry into many useful products for daily life, especially for water and wastewater treatment. Our sulfuric acid manufacturing plants recycle spent acid into fresh sulfuric acid thereby eliminating hazardous wastes. Our factories recover waste heat to produce steam, thus reducing our dependency on fossil fuels, and this steam is used to heat the buildings of PVS and our neighboring industrial facilities. Thanks to our waste heat recovery efforts, we prevent approximately 20,000 tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere per year — this is the equivalent of planting 322,000 trees annually. We are committed to sustainability.
PVS also strives for implementing sustainable practices in the human, social and economic aspects of our business to preserve our valuable resources, whether it is human capital or physical capital. In essence, sustainability for us means doing what’s right for the greater good of humankind. We are passionate about the work we do and abide by The Nicholson Nine to be a safe and sustainable chemical provider you can trust. We look forward to partnering with you to make this world a better place.
